Dear Resellers,
Passed in 2016, the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the most significant change in European data protection laws since the EU Data Protection Directive (Directive 95/46/EC), introduced in 1995.
The GDPR, which became enforceable on May 25, 2018, pursue to strengthen the security and protection of personal data in the EU. As ResellerCluster is based in Europe we made sure that our reseller program and business is GDPR ready.
How this affects you as a reseller?
If you are on a template you are already GDPR compliant as we got you covered.
However, if you are using a remote reseller store, you have to make some adjustments on your remote reseller site. Namely, you have to place an explicit cookie consent on every page of your website, informing visitors about the cookies your website sets on their browser. Also if you use Google Analytics, you have to anonymize the IP addresses you collect.
Cookie Consent
You have to place a cookie consent popup on every page of your remote reseller site. This cookie consent window should inform visitors that the website uses cookies to ensure visitors can get the best experience on your website and show a link to the Privacy Policy. We have updated the users’’ Privacy Policy to be GDPR compliant. Please review a Cookie Consent on this reseller template example > http://your-hosting-site.com/
IP anonymization
The GDPR requires that IP addresses are personal information and therefore entities that collect the IP location of their users should anonymize it.
Google Analytics has such an option provided under the ga(‘set’, ‘anonymizeIp’, true) in the analytics.js library to allow website owners to request that all of their users’ IP addresses are anonymized within the product. Please, read the exact instructions он how to setup your Google Analytics tracking to anonymize visitors’ IP addresses here > https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2763052?hl=en
By completing these two measures, your remote reseller website will be GDPR compliant.
